Wellcraft
34 Triumph Express
1991–93
When she was introduced in 1990, this maxi-volume family cruiser was presented to the public as the Triumph 34 bridge deck Sedan, the product of an all-new boatbuilding company closely associated with the Wellcraft factory. The Triumph operation (they had only two 34-foot models: The bridge deck pictured above and the midcabin Americus express) lasted just over a year before being absorbed into the Wellcraft fleet in 1991. The Triumph’s low-profile appearance is the result of locating the engines aft, thereby lowering the salon sole and creating a wide-open single-level floorplan. Notable features include a unique pass-through from the galley to the flybridge (very convenient) and a hidden privacy curtain for use when the portside salon settee is converted into a double berth at night. Outside, both the cockpit and flybridge provide plenty of guest seating. Additional features include a bow pulpit, molded foredeck seating, and a swim platform. No racehorse, Crusader 300hp gas engines (with V-drives and side exhausts) will cruise the 34 Triumph at a sedate 15–16 knots and reach a top speed of 26 knots.
