Wellcraft
264-270 Coastal
1995–2000
While the Wellcraft 264 Coastal (called the 270 Coastal in 1999–2000) closely resembles the company’s earlier 26 Coastal, the two are completely different boats. Aside from the fact that the 270 has deeply recessed—if narrow—walkaround side decks, her 8'6" beam allows her to be legally trailered which the 2600 Coastal is not. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and the dry weight of 5,000 pounds is about average for a boat of this size and type. The beauty of any walkaround cuddy design lies in her ability to provide basic overnight accommodations along with the fish-fighting capabilities of a full 360-degree platform. With both V-berths and quarter berths below, the 264 can sleep four in a surprisingly spacious cabin with a full galley, removable dinette, and a standup head and shower. Fishing features include two in-deck fish boxes, livewell, under-gunwale rod racks, transom bait station, and raw-water washdown. A good-running boat and a comfortable ride in a chop, a pair of 150hp outboards cruise the Wellcraft 270 Coastal at close to 30 knots and reach a top speed of 40+ knots depending on the load.
