2600 Express

1991–92

Wellcraft 2600 Express
The Wellcraft 2600 Express is a straightforward family cruiser with distinctive (if conservative) lines and a surprisingly roomy interior. Her old-fashioned trunk cabin foredeck and traditional—not curved—windshield make the 2600 something of a throwback to the days when Euro styling trends were less conspicuous in the marketplace. The accommodations are very generous for a 26-footer with berths for five and a large head with shower. Storage is adequate, and the large cabin windows provide a good deal of natural lighting inside. Outside, the single-level cockpit is arranged with a foldaway bench seat at the transom in addition to a helm and companion seat. Additional features include a bow pulpit, an integral swim platform with a walk-thru transom door, good engine access, and a completely flush cockpit deck. Typical of most small cruisers this size, the side decks are extremely narrow. An economical performer with a single 330hp MerCruiser sterndrive, the 2600 Express cruise at 20 knots and reach 30–31 knots top. (Twin I/Os were also available.) Note that production lasted for only two years.
