Wellcraft 26 Scarab Sportster
The Scarab 26 Sportster is a high-performance center console whose narrow 7-foot, 8-inch beam hull is based on the Scarab design that won the U.S. and World offshore speed titles some years ago. The hull itself, a good-riding deep-V with wide chines, has three lifting strakes per side and a bottom pad; however, the Sportster version is heavier than the original Scarab hull and there are some lamination differences as well. Nonetheless, this is a fast boat and there’s no question that she has the general appearance of a racer. Given the narrow beam, the Sportster can hardly be described as roomy and a pair of anglers will find this a fairly confining fishing platform. Because the console is also narrow, there’s little space for electronics at the helm (although the walkways around the console are very wide). A big locker at the bow of the Sportster provides excellent storage. Notable features include a baitwell under the cushioned seat in front of the console (optional), a transom fishbox, rod holders, under-gunwale rod racks, anchor locker, and a pedestal helm seat. A good performer, a single 200hp outboard delivers a top speed in the range of 40 knots.
Additional notes (BoatUS)

Big bow locker provides lots of dry storage space.@Comments: Low-speed rolling motion—typical of narrow-beam hulls—can be uncomfortable.@Performance: About 40 knots top with single 225 Mercury outboard.
