Wellcraft

252 Fisherman

2004–15

Wellcraft built some popular fishing boats a few years back and the 252 Fisherman is one of them. Loaded with features, she was designed and fitted out to compete against some of the best pocket center consoles her size then available. Up front, there are two 180-quart fish boxes under the seats that flank a lockable storage compartment in the foredeck. The center console is topped by a frameless curved windshield, and inside the console is an enclosed head with an opening porthole for light and ventilation. The two-person helm seat converts to a leaning post, and rear seating is provided by a foldaway bench seat along the transom. Fishing amenities include a lighted 21-gallon transom baitwell (aft port corner), forward fish boxes with overboard drains, gunwale-mounted rod holders, and under-gunnel rod storage. A T-top with four rod holders, spreader light and pfd storage is standard as are two tackle storage boxes with removable trays. With an impressive 180 gallons of fuel capacity, the 252 Fisherman’s cruising range dwarfs most boats in this class. Expect a top speed of 40–45 knots with twin Yamaha 150hp outboards.
