30 Pilothouse Tug

1982–89

Sundowner 30 Pilothouse Tug
The Sundowner 30 Tug was introduced in Seattle in 1980 following the great success of the Nordic 26 which came to market a few years earlier. Expanding on the tug concept, designer Jack Sarin drew the lovely Sundowner 30 which, at four feet longer and three feet wider than the Nordic, afforded much greater interior space and a more stable vessel. They are hard chined with an ample keel and enclosed aperture, and offer excellent fuel economy. They are very comfortable and surprisingly roomy for a boat of this size. While they will sleep 5, this is an excellent cruising boat for a couple. (Manufacturer Provided Description) EDITOR NOTES: Large windows, good cabin ventilation are a plus. No cockpit transom door. Lots of teak trim inside and out. Original 30-foot model ran from 1982–87; enlarged Sundowner 32 was built in 1988–89. Runs efficiently at 6–7 knots with single 85hp Perkins diesel.
