Strike

29 Sportfisherman

1987–2006

Strike 29 Sportfisherman
A serious offshore boat, the aggressive, low-profile appearance of the Strike 29 makes her an easy boat to pick out in a sea of look-alike designs. She’s built on a solid fiberglass, deep-V hull with very low freeboard, a wide beam, and propeller pockets for reduced shaft angles. The deck plan is ideal for fishermen who want the overnight capability of a small cuddy while still retaining the walkaround fish-fighting attributes of a center console. The no-frills cabin is basic—V-berths, marine head, and rod storage. The cockpit is huge for a 29-footer with room for a full-size chair. With the engines mounted close together, the extra-wide console houses both and lifts up for easy access. The Strike 29 can easily handle the addition of a tower thanks to her wide beam and low center of gravity. A total of 35 were built through 1989. The Strike 29 was reintroduced in 1996 with a molded pulpit, an inner liner and new deck tooling. Early models with 240hp Perkins diesels cruise at 25 knots (29 knots top), and newer models with twin 270hp Cummins diesels cruise at 28 knots (about 30 knots top). Outboard and single-diesel inboard versions were also available.
