SeaCat

25 Center Console

1993–97

Introduced in 1994, the SeaCat 25 Center Console was produced by North American Fiberglass, the company that once built the Sea Ox series of fishing boats. In 1992 North American switched from monohulls to catamaran designs and they became leaders in this rapidly evolving market with several models ranging from 21 to 25 feet. While many anglers consider cats boxy and unattractive, the SeaCat 25 is easily one of the better-looking of the group although the fit and finish is a little rough. This is a dedicated fishing boat with a well-arranged console, excellent nonskid, built-in fish boxes, plenty of storage, and of course an exceptionally spacious foredeck. (There’s also a Porta-Potti hidden under a hatch in the foredeck.) Note that the foam-filled hulls were redesigned in 1996; the original SeaCat had planing hulls and later models were built with semi-displacement hulls for a softer ride. Twin 90-hp outboards will cruise at 20 knots, and a pair of 140-hp outboards will cruise the SeaCat 25 at a brisk 27-28 knots at close to 2 mpg. SeaCat was sold to World Class Catamarans in 1997; they subsequently redesigned this boat and reintroduced her as the World Class 266.
