630 Super Sun Sport
The 630 Super Sun Sport and her sistership, the 630 Sundancer set American sport yacht standards in their day for size and luxury. While they look alike on the outside, the Sundancer uses Arneson surface drives to reduce draft and drag—an installation that results in a much higher top speed. Both are built on fully cored, deep-V hulls with moderate beam (the Sun Sport has prop pockets) and an integrated transom. Sharing similar floorplans, the massive salon is dominated by sculptured overhead panels and a long contoured leather sofa. The master stateroom is all the way forward, and a day head is in the salon. Note the crew quarters in the Sun Sport hidden beneath the transom and accessed via the cockpit sun pad. Additional features include a reverse arch, two transom doors, circular lounge seating in the cockpit, and a well-arranged engine room with push-button access. An excellent performer with 1,075hp 12V92 diesels, the Sun Sport will cruise at 30 knots (32–33 knots top). The Sundancer model, available during 1995–99, can reach a top speed of nearly 45 knots with 1,300hp surface-drive Cats—super-impressive performance for a 63-foot yacht.
