450 Express Bridge
Sea Ray moved the innovation bar up a notch in 1998 with the introduction of the 450 Express Bridge. It wasn’t just the sleek, low-profile styling that drew attention; the real innovation is below where the 450’s spacious step-down interior conceals two small staterooms beneath the raised settee/dinette to starboard in the salon. The aft stateroom—accessed via a private entryway next to the salon door—includes a full-length bed with hanging locker and built-in washer/dryer. Forward of that, the amidships stateroom features a double berth with partial standing headroom and an opening port. An island bed is in the master stateroom forward, and both heads include separate stall showers. Across from the dinette (and aft of the galley) is a breakfast bar with two swing-out stools. High-gloss cherry cabinets, faux granite countertops, and vinyl overheads highlight this upscale interior, but small salon windows limit natural lighting below. Topside, the huge party-time flybridge has seating fore and aft of the wraparound helm console. Another unique feature of the 450 Express Bridge is the staircase descending from the flybridge to the foredeck. Cummins 450hp V-drive diesels cruise at 20–22 knots.
