Sea Ray Yachts
355T Sedan
1982–83
The Sea Ray 355T is a distinctively styled sedan cruiser with a spacious interior including what is arguably the largest master stateroom to be found in a boat under 40 feet. She was built on a solid fiberglass hull with prop pockets, side exhausts, and a shallow keel for directional stability. Rather than providing the usual two-stateroom interior in a boat this size, Sea Ray opted for a single-stateroom arrangement, which allowed for a very open main cabin. As noted, the master stateroom is enormous with a walkaround island berth, lots of dressing space, and a large hanging locker. A serving counter separates the step-down galley from the salon, and a starboard side lower helm was a popular option. Carpeted overheads, cheap teak-and-mica interior woodwork, and inexpensive furnishings add up to an unimpressive decor package. Topside, the cockpit is tiny, but the flybridge is large for a boat this size with built-in lounge seating aft of the helm. Twin 135hp Perkins diesels cruise the 355T at an economical 10–12 knots and reach a top speed of about 16 knots. A total of 69 of these boats were built during her production run.
