340 Sport Fisherman
The Sea Ray 340 Sport Fisherman can best be described as a 340 Express Cruiser with a flybridge. Same hull, same power, same interior, etc.; the flybridge addition transformed her into a sport fisherman, at least in the eyes of Sea Ray’s marketing gurus. In fact, the 340 is a competent light-tackle fishing boat although no one will ever confuse her offshore capabilities with a Bertram or Blackfin. Built on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with moderate beam and prop pockets, the single-stateroom floorplan of the 340 SF is arranged with berths for four, a large galley, head with shower, and adequate storage. On deck, the partially enclosed helm is well protected from the weather, and there’s plenty of room in the cockpit for a couple of anglers. Unlike a dedicated sport fisherman, however, the cockpit of the 340 SF lacks any fishing amenities—no fish box, bait prep center, tackle drawers, livewell, etc. Hatches under the helm and companion seats provide good access to the engines. Topside, the flybridge is very small. A transom door and side exhausts were standard. Standard 340hp gas engines cruise the Sea Ray 340 at 20–22 knots.
