290 Sundeck; SDX 290
2015–Current
One of the most luxurious deck boats in its class, the 290 Sundeck (called the SDX 290 beginning in 2017) offers considerably more interior volume than the 280/300 Sundeck models that it replaces thanks in part to an additional seven inches of interior beam width. The 290’s deep-V hull and wide "carried-forward" beam allows for plenty of seating in the oversized bow and huge cockpit, yet maintain a smooth, stable ride and good handling at higher speeds. Most of the interior space is found in the aft cockpit where a large L-shaped lounge begins across from the double-wide helm seat forward and extends aft and around the transom all the way to the starboard boarding gate. Nifty aft-facing transom lounges with adjustable backrests overlook the broad swim platform complete with a submersible swim step. Additional highlights include a wet bar with a sink, countertop, refrigerator and optional electric grill. A compact head compartment with portable toilet and pull-out shower is concealed in the port console. A good performer, a single 380hp MerCruiser 8.2L gas sterndrive engine will cruise at 26–28 knots and reach a top speed of 40 knots.
