280 Sundancer

1989–91

Sea Ray Yachts 280 Sundancer
The Sea Ray 280 Sundancer was introduced in 1989 as a replacement for the popular Sea Ray 270 Sundancer (1982–88). A good-looking cruiser even today with her wraparound windshield and integrated swim platform, the 280 rides on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with a flared bow and relatively wide 10-foot, 6-inch beam. Below, the Sundancer’s wide-open cabin layout delivers comfortable overnight accommodations for as many as six adults. The floorplan is arranged in the conventional manner with V-berths forward and a wide double berth in the good-sized mid-cabin. Curtains are used for privacy in both staterooms, and the dinette converts into a double berth for extra overnight guests. Topside, visibility from the elevated double helm seat is excellent, and bench seating in the cockpit will accommodate several guests. Two hatches in the cockpit sole provide good access to the engines. Additional features include a molded bow pulpit, radar arch, cockpit bolsters, cockpit refreshment center, and a transom door. Twin 260hp MerCruiser sterndrives cruise the 280 Sundancer in the mid 20s and reach a top speed of about 35 knots.
