270 Amberjack
Sea Ray marketed their series of Amberjack fishing boats for years. These are not hardcore fishing boats—for the most part, they are repurposed Sea Ray cruisers with fishing amenities replacing the wet bars and lounge seating found in the company’s Sundancer and Weekender models. Introduced in 2005, the 270 Amberjack (note that an earlier 270 Amberjack was produced in 1986–90) rides on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with a trailerable 8'6" beam. Her single-level cockpit came standard with a fold-down rear seat, transom fish/storage box, port and starboard rod storage, and four rod holders. An optional fishing package included a bait prep station with sink, 25-gallon livewell, and raw water washdown. Below decks, the compact interior with high-gloss cherry cabinets, full-service galley, and standup head with shower sleeps two. A walk-through windshield provides access to the bow. An aluminum arch with rocket launchers was a popular option. The easy-lift cockpit hatch provides good engine access. With just 100 gallons of fuel capacity, range is limited. A single 320hp MerCruiser I/O delivers a top speed in excess of 30 knots.
