Sea Ray Yachts
250 Express Cruiser
1993–94
A good-looking boat in her day, the Sea Ray 250 Express Cruiser will appeal to families willing to give up some of the interior amenities usually found in a trailerable cruiser this size in exchange for the open-air advantages of a larger cockpit. Sea Ray altered the traditional express boat layout by moving the dinette table into the cockpit; the smaller cabin allows the placement of the cabin bulkhead further forward which adds up to increased cockpit space. The result is a very roomy, single-level cockpit with seating for a small crowd. Note that about half of the cabin bulkhead is removable which transforms the cabin and cockpit into one big open area—a pretty useful design trick. A walk-through windshield (but no step) provides access to the foredeck and bow platform. The extended trunk cabin profile of the 250 EC allows for adequate cabin headroom below without creating the chunky exterior appearance common to many small family boats. A single 5.7-liter sterndrive will cruise at 20 knots (33 top), and the optional 7.4-liter engine cruises at around 25 knots (37–38 knots top).
