To date, Ronin is one of the very few Taiwan sportfishermen to have at least cracked the long-standing resistance to Asian imports among hard-core anglers. Like the smaller Ronin 38, the 48 Convertible is built on a conventional modified-V hull with generous flare at the bow and 15˚ of deadrise at the transom. The hullsides are cored with balsa, and the boat is assembled with only three separate molds, which adds strength and rigidity while reducing seals and leaks. In appearance, the Ronin 48 Convertible has a strong resemblance to Brand H (as in Hatteras). The styling is contemporary and completely in line with popular sportfish trends. Inside, the 48 offered a choice of two or three staterooms with the galley up or down. The teak (or light oak) interior woodwork is very attractive, and the large engine room is arranged with good access to the motors. With optional 735hp 8V92s, the Ronin 48 will cruise around 27 knots and reach 30+ knots wide open. Twin 840hp MAN diesels became optional in 1990.
