265-270-276 Commodore

1990–93

Regal Yachts 265-270-276 Commodore
Regal introduced this wide-body model in 1990 as the 265 Commodore—a well-finished family cruiser with a maxi-volume interior and berths for six. (Note that she was called the 270 Commodore in 1991–92 and the 276 Commodore in 1993.) Built on a beamy deep-V hull, her 9-foot, 6-inch beam is very wide for a 27-foot boat. Below deck, the Commodore’s unusual floorplan leaves a lot to be desired. A double berth in the forepeak is reached by climbing over the semicircular sofa/dinette, and the effect of this arrangement is to make the main cabin seem very small indeed. A privacy door provides separates the aft cabin (and its standup dressing area) from the salon, while curtains isolate the forward berth, which, by the way, is only large enough for a couple of kids. Note that the head compartment is a tight fit. Topside, a back-to-back companion seat is opposite the helm, and engine access is via hatches in the cockpit sole. Additional features include a molded bow pulpit, foredeck sun pad, transom door, and bench seating at the transom. A single 330hp MerCruiser sterndrive will cruise at 19–20 knots (30+ knots top), and twin 180hp I/Os will top out in the high 30s.
