2550 LSC

1998–2002

With its futuristic styling and innovative hull, the Regal 2550 LSC is one of the more interesting small sportboats to come along in very a while. The LSC is first and foremost an open-air dayboat, and the spacious cockpit consumes nearly two-thirds of the boat’s overall length. She rides on a deep-V hull with an amidships “notch” that breaks the water’s grip on the hull. Stepped hulls like this have been common for many years (although mostly on high-performance boats), and the idea is that by aerating the aftersections of the hull—making it more slippery—top end performance is improved. Topside highlights include a back-to-back double helm seat, wet bar, table, a removable aft bench seat with sun pad, an electric engine hatch, and removable side windshields. Given the expansive cockpit dimensions, the cabin accommodations are basic. There’s an aft berth that extends below the helm, a small galley, toilet, and a convertible dinette/V-berth forward. Note that an in-sole ski locker is found in the cockpit. A single 5.7-liter Volvo I/O will cruise the 2550 LSC at 23 knots and reach a top speed of around 40 knots. Note the the Regal 2550 LSR is the same boat with an open bow.
