2600 Center Console Inboard
1994–97
The reliability, ease of maintenance, and economy of an inboard engine still outweighs any similar benefits that outboard motors can offer. Of course you can’t go as fast with a single inboard as you can with a pair of outboards, but with the engine amidships and deep in the hull, the added stability and improved balance and handling of an inboard design is very remarkable. That said, the 2600 Center Console combines the best features of a small inboard fisherman with Pursuit’s high production standards in a first-rate offshore fishing package. With a wide 9-foot, 7-inch beam, the 2600 is a big boat for her size with more cockpit space than one normally expects in a 26-footer. The list of standard features is impressive: transom livewell and bait rigging station, a big fish box, tackle storage, a tilt-away console with an enclosed head and sink under, and in-deck dry storage and rod locker forward. (Note that the hull is designed with a prop pocket.) A 320hp MerCruiser gas inboard will cruise at 24–26 knots (30 knots top), and an optional 230hp Yanmar diesel will cruise at 18–20 knots (mid 20s top).
