A good-selling boat during her 1980s production years, the PT 38 Sundeck remains a standout value in todays used-boat market. She combines many of the attributes buyers are looking for in a small double-cabin cruiser: rugged construction, attractive styling (with a strong trawler influence), a space-efficient interior, and good fuel economy. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam, hard aft chines, and a shallow, full-length keel. Like several PT models, the 38 Sundeck came without the teak decks, doors, window frames, swim platforms and pulpits common to so many Taiwan imports of her erain other words, shes not a maintenance nightmare. Below, the 38s roomy two-stateroom, galley-down interior offers about as much in the way of comfort as might be expected in a 38-foot boat. An offset queen berth in the aft stateroom helps preserve space, and the guest stateroom forward was available with V-berths or over/under single berths. The teak interior woodwork is finished to high standards. A lower helm and two deck doors were standard in the salon. Twin 210hp Cummins (or twin 225hp Lehman) diesels will cruise at 810 knots.
