44 Sportfisherman

1970–92

Pacifica 44 Sportfisherman
The Pacifica 44 Sportfisherman, one of the most popular West Coast fishermen ever built, remained in production for nearly two decades without any major changes or styling updates—a remarkable testament to her enduring popularity. She was never a high-production model (about 65 were sold over the years), but the 44 became Pacifica’s best-selling boat. Built on a modified-V hull with a wide beam and considerable flare at the bow, the 44 is notable for her huge fishing cockpit and rugged construction. Her interior consists of two staterooms (each with a double bed), two heads, and a handy midships lounge in the companionway that converts to over/under berths. As is the case with many West Coast fishing boats, the wide side decks of the Pacifica 44 result in slightly reduced salon dimensions—a fair trade considering how easy it is to get around the house. Adding to the boat’s appeal are two built-in 80-gallon livewells, a feature anglers will certainly appreciate. Many were equipped with the 435hp GM8V71 diesels (22 knots/25 knots top). Those powered with 550hp GM6V92s cruise in the mid 20s (28 knots top).
