Pacific Trawler
40
2000–03
The Pacific Trawler 40 is an enlarged version of the Pacific Trawler 37 introduced in 1997. The added hull length of the 40 allows for increased fuel and water tankage as well as a larger, more expansive salon. Originally, the Pacific Trawler 40 had an open transom with stainless steel railings—an unconventional design that had the cockpit extending out to the end of the swim platform. Twelve of these open transom boats were built until the so-called Closed Transom model, introduced in 2002, replaced the cockpit railings with a conventional transom and lengthened the salon, allowing for the inclusion of a small desk area. The floorplan is somewhat unusual in that the head compartment is opposite the galley rather than forward, next to the stateroom. On deck, a flybridge overhang shelters the cockpit, and molded steps on the starboard-side deck lead to the flybridge. Note that the pilothouse is situated well forward on the deck for improved helm visibility. Additional features include cabintop dinghy storage, twin pilothouse deck doors, bow thruster, and mahogany interior joinery. A single 330hp Cummins diesel will cruise at 10 knots (about 15 knots top).
