Designed for the Pacific Northwest angler, the Olympic Super 26 XL is a heavily built hardtop fisherman with a generous cockpit and basic but comfortable cabin accommodations. While her appearance is more utilitarian than sexy, this is exactly the type of boat that appeals to veteran northern fisherman/cruisers seeking a good sea boat with a weather-protected helm. The hull—fully cored with a flared bow, foam flotation and modest transom deadrise—is trailerable, and the Olympic’s low freeboard and relatively flat bottom makes her a stable platform in a beam sea. Aside from the intrusion of the engine box, the cockpit of the Olympic is simple and uncluttered with plenty of fishing space for two anglers. Note that cockpit controls were a popular option. On the downside, the side decks are very narrow. The efficient cabin includes a small galley, convertible dinette, a standup head and V-berths forward with a privacy door. Several engine options were offered during her production years. Among them, a single 5.7-liter gas I/O will cruise the Super 26 XL at 20 knots and reach a top speed of about 35 knots.
