Nautique
42 Cockpit MY
1986–90
The Nautique 42 is a cockpit version of the Nautique 38 Motor Yacht with the same interior and, due to the extra hull length afforded by the cockpit, a more attractive profile and slightly better performance. The 42 was a popular Taiwan import for several years thanks to her still-attractive lines, a well-finished teak interior and an affordable price. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a shallow keel and moderate beam, her two-stateroom, galley-down floorplan is arranged with double berths in both cabins and separate stall showers in each head. Most 42s (and 38s as well) were delivered with a lower helm station, which certainly adds to her appeal with northern and West Coast buyers. Outside, a ladder leads from the Nautique’s full-width aft deck down to a 40-square-foot cockpit, which comes with a centerline transom door. Additional features include a radar arch, bow pulpit, swim platform, and a reasonably spacious engine room. A hardtop was a popular option. Twin 320hp Caterpillar diesels cruise the Nautique 42 Cockpit MY at a respectable 17–18 knots and deliver a top speed in the range of 22 knots.
