Monterey

290 Cruiser; 300 SCR

2006–12

Monterey 290 Cruiser; 300 SCR
Monterey has a history of building solid, long-lasting cruisers widely viewed as a lot of boat for the money. That’s certainly true of this midsize cruiser (called the 290 Cruiser in 2006–08; 300 SCR in 2009–12), a well-built express with the aggressive styling and spirited performance that have made Monterey boats so popular over the years. Like most express boats her size, the 290 rides on a modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom and moderate 10'3" beam. The Monterey’s user-friendly cockpit features U-shaped seating aft with removable cocktail table, wet bar with sink and Corian counter to port, and a double-wide seat at the helm. The extended swim platform makes boarding easy, and a walk-through windshield provides access to the bow. Below deck, the cherry-trimmed interior includes a circular dinette forward (convertible to a double berth), U-shaped mid-cabin settee/berth, standup head with shower, and compact galley with refrigerator and microwave. Synthetic wood flooring is standard. Additional features include a transom shower and foredeck sun pad. Volvo 270hp I/Os reach close to 40 knots wide open.
