Monterey
270 Cruiser
2006–08
Year after year, the market for big, trailerable express cruisers remains among the most competitive in the business. With the 2006 introduction of the 270 Cruiser, Monterey offered an attractive, somewhat less expensive alternative to similar 27-footers from Sea Ray, Regal, and Four Winns. In nearly every respect—styling, features, construction, etc.—the 270 compares well with her costlier counterparts. Built on a modified-V hull with 18 degrees of transom deadrise, the layout makes good use of the limited space available on a small cruiser such as this. The cockpit offers a fair amount of elbow space (considering her modest 8'6" beam) with seating for six and a wet bar with sink and removable cooler. The double helm seat converts to a lounge for sunning. The cabin is another example of good space management with a U-shaped dinette large enough for five adults at mealtime, or two adults when the area is converted to a berth. Two more people can sleep in the 270’s aft cabin—a squeeze for adults, but the kids will enjoy this sanctuary. Note the transom storage locker and foredeck sun pad. A single Volvo 320hp gas I/O will cruise at 20+ knots (low 30s top).
