260 Walkaround
1989–91
A heavily built boat in the Mako tradition, the 260 Walkaround made the cut with anglers looking for an express-style fishing boat with a seaworthy hull and cabin accommodations for two. There were two versions of the Mako 260 Walkaround: open transom (260), or closed transom with outboard bracket (260B). With a steep 23 degrees of transom deadrise, the 260 can hold her own when the going gets tough. This is not a roomy boat by any means, but the 260 has the cockpit and cabin space of most trailerable fishing boats her size. Below, the Spartan cabin consists of a portable head with privacy curtain, galley pod with sink, removable dining table, and convertible dinette. Additional features of the Mako 260 include a molded bow pulpit with anchor roller, insulated in-deck fish boxes (2), dual helm seat with integrated aft-facing seat, circulating livewell, cushioned bow seat, gunnel rod holders (4), cockpit rod storage racks, cockpit lights, trim tabs, raw-water washdown, and cockpit bolsters. A fiberglass hardtop was a popular option. Twin 200hp Mercury outboards cruise the Mako 260 in the mid 20s (40+ top).
