253 Walkaround
1998–2006
A good-selling model for Mako, the 253 Walkaround gets high marks for her clean lines and handsome profile. Like most walkaround designs her size, the 253 is trailerable and her compact cabin will accommodate the needs of two fisherman for an occasional overnight stay. Built on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with recessed trim tabs and an integrated bracket/dive platform, the unobstructed cockpit of the 253 is arranged with port and starboard in-sole fish boxes, a transom bait well, under-gunwale rod holders, a fold-down rear bench seat and tackle storage under the helm and companion seats. The side decks are wide enough for easy access to the foredeck where a bow seat and anchor locker are standard. The interior comes with a V-bunks forward, an enclosed head compartment and a galley with sink, stove and refrigerator. A single 250hp outboard will cruise the Mako 253 Walkaround at 22 knots (about 30 knots top), and twin 200hp outboards will cruise at over 30 knots and reach around 45 knots wide open.
