Mako Yachts
250 Walkaround
1988–92
EDITOR’S NOTES: Introduced in the late 1980s, this well-built fishing boat may be showing her age but she’s still a lot of boat for the money. Highlights include a roomy cockpit, fish boxes, fairly wide walkways, rod storage, rounded livewell. Deep-V hull can be a wet ride in a chop. Note opening windshield. Fuel increase in 1991. A full-transom/bracket version (the 250B/253B) was available in 1990–94. Top speed in the mid 40s with twin 150hp outboards.
Additional notes (BoatUS)
Overview: Tough walkaround fisherman with conservative styling, practical layout was a lot of boat for the money.@Features: Two fishboxes, livewell, cockpit rod storage, back-to-back seating with tackle drawers, fresh/raw-water washdowns, cockpit shower, bow pulpit. Small cabin with galley cabinet, portable head storage, V-berth/dinette sleeps two. Tall windshield provides good high-rpm wind, spray protection.@Comments: Fuel was increased in 1991. Note that Mako 250B is the same boat with outboard bracket.@Performance: About 40 knots top with twin 150s.
