Larson
280-290 Cabrio
1994–2001
A popular model for Larson, the 280 Cabrio (called the 290 Cabrio in 1997–2001) is well-appointed express whose roomy accommodations and affordable price struck a good balance between comfort and value. She was built on what Larson calls a Duo DeltaConic hull, which incorporates a notched bottom design said to improve both lift and top-end performance. Below, the Cabrio sleeps six in three double berths. The list of standard equipment included an electric refrigerator, alcohol/electric stove, and an enclosed head with vanity and shower. With a wide 10-foot beam, there’s a surprising amount of room below and Formica cabinets and oak trim present an upscale impression. Above deck, the cockpit is arranged with a removable L-shaped lounge and a double-wide, back-to-back seat at the helm. Additional features include a tilt wheel, serviceable side decks, a power-assist engine hatch, and a walk-through transom. Several sterndrive power options were available. Among them, a single 310hp MerCruiser will reach a top speed in excess of 35 knots, and twin 250hp Mercs will top out at 40+ knots.
