Larson
260 Cabrio
1992–93
An innovative design with her circular transom seating and centerline helm position, the 260 Cabrio is a classy little family cruiser with a stylish profile to go with her affordable price. Hull construction is solid fiberglass and—like other Larson models—the Cabrio rides on one of Harry Schoell’s patented DeltaConic hulls. She’s a beamy boat for her length, and the wide-open interior is attractively arranged with staterooms fore and aft, a compact galley, and a standup head with shower. Outside, the focus is on the cockpit layout: Larson engineers rejected the conventional in their decision to place the helm amidships (improved visibility) and to employ wraparound semicircular seating at the transom. This innovative arrangement results in a deeper swim platform and generous seating, but the rounded transom design eats up a lot of useful cockpit space. Among several engine options, a single 454-cid MerCruiser or Volvo sterndrive will cruise the Larson 260 Cabrio at 17–18 knots and reach a top speed of around 30 knots. Note the (very) limited fuel capacity.
