254 Cabrio

1997–2002

The Cabrio 254 is an popular entry-level family cruiser with traditional midcabin accommodations and a roomy cockpit. What sets the 254 Cabrio apart from other small cruisers her size is her Duo-Delta Conic stepped hull. Stepped hulls aren’t new; they’ve been around for years in high-performance boats, and now they’re finding their way into the cruising-boat market. (The step in the bottom surface introduces air under the hull which reduces drag and—in theory—increases top speeds.) The Cabrio’s interior includes a V-berth/dinette forward along with a compact galley to port and an enclosed head with sink and shower. There are berths for four, and the cabin is accented with attractive cherry wood trim. The cockpit of the 254 Cabrio is particularly well arranged with facing bench seats aft and a comfortable sun lounge opposite the helm—outdoor seating for eight which is impressive in a boat this size. Additional features include a transom door, bow pulpit, and an integrated swim platform. Note that the side decks on this boat are very narrow. Among several engine options, a single 7.4-liter sterndrive will cruise at 25 knots (40+ knots top).
