Huckins Yachts 44 Atlantic
A highly regarded name in the boating industry with roots reaching back to 1928, Huckins is perhaps best known among marine professionals for the company’s post-war Fairform Flyer wood boats made famous for their fast-riding Quadraconic hull form. The 44 Atlantic follows in that tradition, a highly finished semi-custom yacht with the classic styling of earlier Huckins designs. The hull is fully cored, and her beam is modest compared with many of today’s mega-wide designs. Buyers can choose from various single-stateroom floorplans with the galley down or twin-stateroom layouts with the galley up. A choice of teak, maple or cherry woodwork is offered, and one can only describe the interior of the Atlantic as understated elegance. Visibility from the semi-enclosed helm, two steps up from the cockpit level, is excellent. Facing settees aft of the helm seats provide comfortable guest seating, and the engine room is spacious and extremely well finished. Additional features include Awlgrip exterior paint, radar mast, a teak swim platform and bow pulpit, and bridge enclosure panels. Twin 350hp Cummins or Cat diesels cruise at 24 knots (at nearly 1 mpg!) and reach a top speed of 27–28 knots.
