Hartmann-Palmer 56 Motor Yacht
Built by Lien Hwa in Taiwan (and often sold in the country as the Lien Hwa 56 MY), the Hartmann-Palmer 56 bears a strong resemblance—in profile, at least—to the Hatteras 53 MY. She was constructed with cored hullsides and features a wide beam, a long keel, and underwater exhausts to reduce noise. The traditional double-deck layout places the galley and dinette down from the salon level. The generous 12' 14' salon dimensions are more than adequate, and the afterdeck is even larger. A curved staircase aft in the salon leads down to a spacious master stateroom with a tub/shower. A walk-in engine room separates the master from the guest cabins forward. Outside of the engine room, just about everything you see inside the Hartmann-Palmer 56 is either made out of teak, covered by it, or trimmed with it. No lightweight, the standard 450hp GM 6-71s deliver an anemic 13–14 knot cruising speed when fully loaded and 17 knots flat out. The optional 600hp 8V92TIs cruise this traditional cruising yacht at a respectable 16–17 knots cruise and reach 19 knots top. Note the generous 1,400-gallon fuel capacity.
