Gamefisherman 40 Express
This text was written for the flybridge is what a classic sportfishing boat looks like. The Gamefisherman 40 Flybridge (called the 42 Flybridge after 2001) stands apart from other custom-built sportfishing boats for her meticulous construction and superior rough-water capabilities. She's an open-bulkhead dayboat with a flush deck layout from the transom to the forward cabin door. Hull construction is cold-molded mahogany planking with an epoxy glass outer covering. The flybridge and foredeck are laminated and epoxied, and the cockpit sole is teak. This hull is so well-balanced that trim tabs are not required. The long cockpit is excellent for all types of fishing and offers an in-deck livewell and fish box as well as a complete tackle center. The open deckhouse dinette and settee are slightly raised on engine boxes, and there are two big single berths below along with an enclosed head forward. Engine access is excellent. Among several engine options, Volvo 380hp diesels cruise at 22–24 knots (high 20s top). More recent models with 450hp Cummins engines cruise at 28–30 knots (low 30s top). Note that the Gamefisherman 42 model includes several updates from the original 40.
