Four Winns

285 Sundowner

2000–05

Four Winns 285 Sundowner
The Four Winns 285 Sundowner is a well-appointed runabout whose spacious cockpit can seat as many as eight people. Four Winns has a reputation for building a quality product and the Sundowner will easily satisfy the demands of active families more interested in practicality than glitz. Built on what Four Winns calls a “Stable-Vee” hull with a keel pad to increase speed, the Sundowner’s deck plan is a model of efficiency. A wraparound lounge aft converts to a sun pad, and a portside mini-galley includes a refrigerator, sink with pressure water, and a trash bin. At the helm, a double flip-up seat provides plenty of legroom for standup driving. Note that the dash area, with its Plexiglas-covered chart flat, is tinted to reduce glare. Going below, the Sundowner’s small cuddy is arranged with an enclosed head (with VacuFlush toilet) to port, a microwave cabinet opposite, and a convertible V-berth forward. On the downside, the engine compartment is a tight fit. Standard features include a power engine hatch, secondary extended swim platform, walk-through windshield, and tilt wheel. Among many engine choices, twin 270hp Volvo I/Os reach a top speed in excess of 50 knots.
