Edgewater 260 Center Console
Considering her heritage, it’s hardly surprising that many experienced anglers look upon the Edgewater 260 with an envious eye. The Edgewater Boat Company was founded by Bob Dougherty, chief designer for Boston Whaler for 30 years until leaving to start Edgewater (originally called Dougherty Yachts). Aside from being a solid, well-built boat, the 260 includes several innovative features of interest. Constructed on an easy-riding variable deadrise hull with low freeboard, the 260 is the only trailerable fishing boat we know of to come with a lifetime transferable hull warranty. Fishing amenities include dual bait stations (one behind the leaning post and one in the transom), an insulated fish box, and plenty of rod holders. While many center consoles have a head inside the console, the 260 manages to include a small V-berth as well. Additional features include life jacket storage forward, saltwater washdown, a large helm console with room for flush-mounting an array of electronics, and (like Boston Whalers) positive foam flotation. An expensive boat when she was new, Yamaha 150hp outboards reach a top speed of about 40 knots.
