Davis
45-48 Express
2001–Current
With her Carolina-flared bow and trademark broken sheer, the Davis 45 surely ranks with the most beaujpgully styled production express boats ever built. She also addresses a common complaint among express-boat owners—that of poor helm visibility—by raising the forward part of the bridgedeck, a design that also adds significantly to headroom in the engine room. Designed for serious anglers, the 45 is one of the very best sea boats in her class. Offered with or without prop pockets, the hullsides are cored and the bottom is solid fiberglass. A choice of interior layouts (one or two staterooms) is offered, both well finished with mirror-finish woodwork and designer fabrics. It’s worth noting that the companionway stairs into the cabin are steep. Large L-shaped settees flank the centerline helm, and the cockpit is fitted with fish boxes, a bait freezer, transom door, and a circular livewell. The side decks are wide, and the absence of a bow rail gives the 45 a very sleek appearance. Twin 700hp Detroit diesels cruise at 26–27 knots and reach a top speed of 30+ knots.
