266 Vee Sport
1980–90
Clearly dated by today’s express boat standards, the Cruisers 260 Vee Sport (called the 2660 Vee Sport in 1988–91) enjoyed a good deal of popularity during her long 12-year production run. Unlike trailerable boats her size, the 266 boasts a wide 10-foot beam, and her raised foredeck design provides a surprising amount of headroom below. Note that instead of a traditional midcabin interior, the Vee Sport has a more open floorplan incorporating a quarter berth extending beneath the cockpit sole. An offset double berth is forward, and the full-service galley features a stove and microwave in addition to an under-counter refrigerator and storage drawers. Aside from cosmetic updates (interior decor, helm console, hull graphics, etc.), the Cruisers 266 Vee Sport remained relatively unchanged over the years. A fiberglass swim platform, sport arch, and teak bow pulpit were standard. The cockpit—roomy for a 26-footer—seats six in comfort. Among several possible engine choices, a single 340hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise at 22 knots (low 30s top), and twin 340hp sterndrives cruise at 27–28 knots and reach a top speed of around 40 knots.
