Crownline
268 CR
1997–2000
The trailerable Crownline 268 CR is basically an updated version of the earlier 250 CR (1993–96) with a new deck mold, an updated interior decor and a rearranged cockpit layout. While the 268 is a sleeker boat than her predecessor, she still suffers a little from the top-heavy appearance common to almost all small cruisers with standing cabin headroom. At 6,500 pounds, the 268 CR is no lightweight and she’ll require a heavy-duty tow vehicle for over-the-road travel. Her midcabin interior includes a dinette/V-berth forward, a compact galley module, an enclosed head with shower, and four opening ports. On deck, there’s seating for six in the cockpit, and a walk-through windshield with molded steps provides easy access to the bow. Note that the helm seat flips up to make a leaning post, and the aft cockpit seats can be removed to free up space. Additional features include a molded bow pulpit, recessed anchor locker, windshield vents, tilt steering, transom gate and recessed swim ladder. A single 5.7-liter MerCruiser gas engine (standard) will cruise the Crownline 268 at 20–21 knots, and an optional 7.4-liter Merc will cruise at 25 knots (35–36 knots top).
