Crownline
250 CR
1992–97
One of the early Crownline models, the 250 CD is a sturdy trailerable cruiser with a balanced blend of interior volume and cockpit amenities. At over 6,000 lbs, the 250 CR is no lightweight compared with other boats her size and she’ll require a substantial tow vehicle for any long-distance travel. She’s constructed on a solid fiberglass hull with an integral swim platform and bow pulpit, and while she was marketed as a 25-footer, her overall length (including the pulpit) is just under 27 feet. Below decks, the midcabin interior has a convertible dinette/V-berth forward along with a well-arranged galley area and an enclosed head with shower. The big doublewide helm seat eats up a lot of cockpit space although there’s still room for a stern seat and an aft-facing jump seat. On the downside, negotiating the steep first step in the companionway requires care, and there’s no opening port in the head. Standard features include wide side decks, transom door, midcabin privacy curtain, and a walk-thru windshield. Among several sterndrive engine options, a single 300hp 5.7-liter MerCruiser will deliver a 21-knot cruising speed and a top speed of 30+ knots.
