Compass
55 Pilothouse
1999–2004
Pilothouse yachts have become very popular in recent years thanks to their all-weather cruising abilities, user-friendly layouts and handsome lines. The Compass 55 incorporates all of these desirable features with the added attractions of a lengthy list of standard equipment and an affordable price. Built in Taiwan on a proven modified-V hull, the three-stateroom floorplan of the Compass 55 is similar to that of other yachts of this type with the galley and dinette forward on the pilothouse level above a full-width master stateroom. Visibility from the helm is excellent, and a pilothouse door provide access to the foredeck. A comfortable L-shaped settee dominates the salon, and the liberal application of high-gloss cherry woodwork makes for a modern and very inviting interior. Topside, the extended flybridge of the Compass 55 is huge with plenty of lounge seating, a barbecue and dinghy storage aft. Additional features include a spacious engine room (with cockpit access), twin transom doors, an extended swim platform, wide side decks, bow thruster, and a teak cockpit sole. Cat 420hp diesels deliver a cruising speed of 14–16 knots.
