Cobia
260-270 Walkaround
1997–2007
Introduced in 1997, the Cobia 270 Walkaround (called the 260 Walkaround in 1997–2000) is an entry-level express for fishing, diving, and cruising. A slender 8'6" beam allows the Cobia 270 to be trailered without a permit, and her relatively light weight (compared with other boats in her class) is key to her good fuel economy. With her roomy cockpit and generic deck layout, getting around the cabin would be easy were it not for the fact that the side decks end near the bow creating a step-and-trip hazard. Standard features include an integrated swim platform, molded bow pulpit, 25-gallon transom livewell, insulated fish box, cockpit bolsters, tackle drawers, cockpit rod storage, rear bench seat, gunnel rod holders, insulated fish box, raw-water washdown, transom door, trim tabs, cockpit lights, molded bow seat, and transom shower. Options included a hardtop with rod holders, trim tabs, and marine head with deck pumpout. Below, the no-frills cabin of the Cobia 270 sleeps two and includes a removable dinette table, galley cabinet with sink and icebox, portable head, and rod storage. Yamaha 150 outboards top out at close to 40 knots.
