Cobalt
262
2000–07
Quiet, luxurious, and meticulously finished, Cobalt runabouts have been synonymous with quality for many years. The Cobalt 262, introduced in 2000, reflects those attributes, and then some. Big trailerable bowriders are among the most popular boats on the water these days, but few surpass the 262 in comfort and eye appeal. She’s built on a Kevlar-reinforced deep-V hull with an aggressive 22 degrees of transom deadrise—enough to smooth out some fairly rough water. Unlike many open-bow runabouts, the 262’s cockpit incorporates a center transom walk-through, a design that provides quick and easy access to the swim platform. Filler cushions convert the aft deck into a huge sun pad, and a small head/change compartment is built into the port console. The 262 is loaded with standard features including woodgrain dash panels, a teak swim platform, bow scuff plate, flip-up bolster seats, wet locker, and a power engine hatch. A reverse sport arch was optional. A top-selling boat for many years, a single Volvo 375hp DuoProp I/O delivers a top speed in excess of 40 knots. Note that a restyled Cobalt 262 was introduced in 2009.
