Chris Craft Yachts
73-74 Roamer MY
1973–79
The Roamer 74 MY (she was known as the Roamer 73 MY from 1973–75) is an all-aluminum motor yacht built at the old Chris Craft fabrication plant in Holland, Michigan. Several of these yachts were built during the 1970s, and it’s worth noting that they, along with her sistership, the 74 Flush Deck model, are often referred to within the yachting community as Derecktor 74s. An extremely roomy yacht with an expansive interior, the 74 MY rides on a conventional modified V-bottom with a sharp entry, moderate beam, and a deeply flared bow. Two floorplans were available, both providing three staterooms for owner and guests together with crew quarters for three forward. (The difference between the two floorplans is in the configuration of the owner’s aft stateroom.) A breakfast bar separates the large galley from the full-width salon, and an on-deck day head is opposite the galley. Sliding deck doors lead from the wheelhouse to the protected walkway that reaches around the wheelhouse itself. The small aft deck is suitable for line-handling, and while the flybridge isn’t large by today’s motor yacht standards it’s well suited for storage and entertaining. Standard 12V-71 Detroit diesels cruise 15–16 knots.
