482 Commander

The Chris Craft 482 Convertible is actually the old Uniflite 48 Convertible that Chris Craft acquired when they took over the assets of Uniflite in 1984 when that company went out of business. She was built on a rugged, modified-V hull with moderate beam, cored hullsides and a shallow keel. A long foredeck and huge cockpit mark the 482 as a tournament-class fisherman although the luxurious interior—at least by 1980s standards—was certainly one of her more desirable features. Various floorplans were offered when she was built by Uniflite, but Chris Craft settled on a practical three-stateroom arrangement with a queen berth in the amidships master stateroom. Rich teak paneling and an upscale decor highlight the spacious salon, and it should be noted that Chris Craft offered an optional glassed-in front windshield in later models in keeping with then current design trends. Additional features include a bow pulpit, transom door, excellent range, wide side decks and a spacious flybridge. Standard 8V92 diesels (600hp) will cruise at a steady 25 knots and reach a top speed of about 28 knots. Note that the short-lived Chris Craft 502 Convertible (1989 only) was built on a stretched 482 hull.
