302-322 Crowne; 340 Crowne

Called the 302 Crowne in 1991–92 and the 322 Crowne in 1993–96, this sterndrive cruiser was a popular model for Chris Craft thanks to her good appearance and surprisingly roomy cabin accommodations. On deck, the 302’s tiered integral transom is styled with a curved stern swim step. It is equipped with a hot and cold shower, swinging transom gate and fender sockets that double as scuba tank holders. A wraparound sport lounge is just a few steps away along with a wet bar, sink and ice box. The cockpit is framed overhead by a rakish radar arch. The 302’s sporty helm is a plus, and the overall finish is quite good for an entry level boat. Below, a U-shaped sofa that seats four in the mid-cabin features a cleverly designed dinette table that converts to two cocktail tables. Forward, a spacious queen-size bed has under-berth stowage. The galley and head are small but functional. On the downside, the narrow deck walkway leading from the cockpit to the foredeck is barely wide enough to go forward while underway. The engine compartment has fairly good access although the engines are close together. Twin 5.7L OMC I/Os cruise at 26–28 knots. Note that the 340 Crowne (1993–95) is the same boat with inboard power.
