Century 2600 Walkaround
The Century 2600 Walkaround (note that Century built an earlier 2600 Walkaround with a wider 8'9" beam in 1996–2001) is a capable and good-looking trailerable fishing boat with an array of standard features that anglers and cruisers will appreciate. Walkaround boats are nearly always a design compromise—their purpose is to meet the demands of both anglers and weekend cruisers. In the case of the Century 2600, these goals are well met indeed. The cockpit —which is surprisingly uncluttered considering her modest beam—boasts a transom bait-prep station (with sink, cutting board and large 42-gallon aerated livewell), 4-tray tackle box forward, twin insulated fish boxes in the sole, and locking rod storage cabinets under each gunwale. The compact cabin provides an adult-size V-berth, removable table, enclosed head with shower, and small galley with sink and icebox. Note the two opening ports for ventilation. On the downside, the walkways around the cabin are a bit narrow. Running on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull, the Century 2600 Walkaround will cruise at 30 knots with a pair of 200hp Yamaha outboards (40–42 knots top).
