Century 2600 Walkaround
There’s no shortage of walkaround fishing boats in the 26-foot range in today’s used-boat market, but only a few have the balanced, low-profile lines of the Century 2600. Built on a solid fiberglass, deep-V hull with foam-filled stringers, her 8'9" beam is just over the legal limit in most states (although over-wide permits are generally easy to get). Because the small cuddy is well forward, the cockpit dimensions of the Century 2600 are a little more generous than similar walkaround boats her size. Fishing amenities include a bait-prep station with sink, a waist-level livewell in the transom, under-gunnel rod lockers, and an insulated fish box. Note that the bridge deck seating arrangement was revised in 1998 when twin pedestal seats replaced the original doublewide helm seat. The cuddy is compact but adequate for an overnight stay. Additional features include a transom door, tackle storage drawers, and a molded pulpit. (In 1998, a new cabin design in 1998 increased headroom below.) Twin 200hp Yamahas deliver a top speed of 40+ knots. Century introduced a new 2600 Walkaround model in 2002 with slightly less beam.
